Netgear wifi extender won't connect to router

Netgear Extender Setup Guide

Setting up a Netgear WiFi extender can significantly improve your home or office WiFi coverage. Follow these steps to configure and troubleshoot your extender setup.

1. Position the Extender Correctly

Place the Netgear extender halfway between your router and the area with weak signal. Ensure it is within range of the router.

2. Connect to the Extender

Plug in the Netgear extender and wait for the power LED to turn green.

On your device, search for the extender’s network name (SSID) and connect to it.

3. Access Netgear Installation Assistant

Open a web browser and type www.mywifiext.net in the address

bar.

If you are unable to access it, try using the default IP address 192.168.1.250 in your browser.

4. Create an Account

When prompted, create an account or log in if you already have one. This allows you to manage the extender settings.

5. Select Your WiFi Network

The extender will scan for available WiFi networks. Select your router's network and enter the password.

6. Test the Connection

Once connected, move to the area where WiFi coverage was previously weak and test the connection. If the signal strength is good, the extender is set up correctly.

7. Troubleshooting Common Issues

Cannot connect to mywifiext.net: Ensure you’re connected to the extender’s network before accessing the site.

Weak signal after setup: Move the extender closer to the router for a better signal.

Network not showing up: Ensure the extender is within range and try rescanning for networks.
