Brazil's High Court rules that Italy's nine-year prison sentence is valid
Brazilian soccer star Robinho, who was sentenced to nine years in prison in Italy on charges of gang rape, was arrested in his home country.
According to AFP and Associated Press on the 21st (local time), Brazilian police announced that they had arrested soccer star Robinho (40), who was sentenced to nine years in prison by an Italian court on charges of sexual assault.
Brazil's High Court ruled the previous day that Italy's conviction against Robinho was valid in Brazil as well.
Robinho's side announced his intention to appeal, but the Brazilian police, who had issued an arrest warrant, secured his arrest. 파워볼사이트
Robinho is expected to undergo procedures and be transferred to a Brazilian prison.
Robinho was found guilty in the first trial in November 2017 of gang-raping a 23-year-old Albanian woman along with five other friends in Milan, Italy in January 2013 while playing for AC Milan in the Italian professional soccer Serie A.
Robinho returned to his Brazilian team Santos in October 2020 before the Supreme Court's final ruling, and in January 2022, the Italian Supreme Court finalized his sentence of 9 years in prison, but he did not pay for his crimes because Brazil did not extradite its criminals overseas.
The Italian government officially requested the Brazilian government to carry out the sentence in February last year after its request to extradite Robinho was rejected.
Robinho, who was selected to the Santos youth team by the football emperor Pele in 1999 at the age of 15, made his professional debut at Santos in 2002 and played in major European leagues such as Real Madrid (Spain), Manchester City (England), and AC Milan.
Robinho played in 100 international matches for the Brazilian national team and scored 28 goals. He is one of only eight players in Brazilian football history to join the Century Club. 슬롯사이트 추천
