Oh Jae-won, suspected of drug use, appears for warrant review

Oh Jae-won (39), a former professional baseball player on the national team who was arrested on charges of drug use, etc., was detained on the 22nd.

Kim Mi-kyung, chief judge in charge of warrants at the Seoul Central District Court, held an interrogation (substantive warrant review) before the arrest of Mr. Oh, who is suspected of violating the Narcotic Drugs Control Act (psychiatry), on the afternoon of the previous day and issued a warrant, saying, "There is a risk of him running away."

During the warrant examination, Mr. Oh complained of difficulty breathing and an ambulance was dispatched. It is reported that there is currently no problem.

Mr. Oh, who arrived at the court at 3:52 p.m. the previous day, asked questions such as 'When did you start taking drugs?', 'Whether you used them as a player?', 'Whether it was true that you bleached your hair and removed your hair to hide the evidence,' and 'Have you ever been prescribed sleeping pills on your behalf?' 'There was no answer to reporters' questions.

Mr. Oh was arrested by the police on the 19th on charges of taking narcotics and receiving prescriptions for psychotropic drugs.

A police official said, “Mr. Oh is admitting some of the charges.”

Previously, Mr. Oh was investigated for drug charges once on the 10th following a report by a woman he was with, but it was reported that he returned home after returning a negative result in a simple reagent test. At the time, Oh was said to have strongly denied her charges.

Afterwards, the police confirmed additional evidence of Mr. Oh's drug use, secured a new identity, and applied for an arrest warrant on the 20th.

Oh, who joined the Doosan Bears in 2007, played for the same team for 16 seasons until his retirement in 2022, winning three championship trophies (2015, 2016, 2019). He also wore the Taegeuk flag at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games and the 2015 Premier 12. 사설토토
